8 June Akaroa Fishing -
Run in ideal conditions with 6 boats, most venturing well outside the heads.
16 June Display by the NZ Fire service at the Woolston Depot
Great night wiith a good number of our younger members keen to learn about fire safety and how to put one out correctly.
21 June Annual Dinner at the Cotswold Hotel on Papanui Road.
Another great night, (shame it conflicted with the Rugby though). Always good to catch up with other club members in a relaxed environment
4 - 6 July Annual Christchurch Boat Show
Very positive feedback from the attendannce numbers at the show, very similar to last year, plus the dealers I spoke with were positive about the number of genuine enquiries and actual sales. From the club perspective we obtained a prime site this year being the first stand inside the entrance. Our new banner, prime location and display of club equipment plus AV display were excellent for the profile of the club.
9 July Flares evening.
Attended by over 50 people, it was great to give the crew (kids) a chance to set off the flares, as, in the event of an emergency, it may well be them that need to activate the flare. There were a couple of flares which did not go off which highlights the importance of having current flares. Followed by drinks at the Burnham Sports Bar, another successful event.
13 July Kaiapoi River Cruise
Well, were we lucky with the day. Although the Waimak was high and discoloured, the day could have been from early spring rather than mid winter. Embarking from Kaiapoi we cruised to just inside the Waimakariri bar, then back up the river to Stewarts Gully, before returning back to Kaiapoi. With 42 people attending we are getting really good numbers at events.
20 July Mid Winter Ski, so if you are feeling brave, bring along your skis. Please contact Graeme if interested
Yes it was done again, a mid winter ski in a bithday suit, fortunately the cold ensured there was no risk of any indecency.
27 July 10 Pin Bowling and Junior Prize Giving.
A great turnout with 38 people to enjoy the day. With the junior bowlers far outscoring the adults an inquest was held and while there was no evidence of doping, it was found that the barriers were down on the high scoring lane. "busted" boys.
